Battling to the Top on Big Winnie

This past weekend was one I won’t forget.

Easton Yamry and I had the opportunity to compete in the AWWS Warrior Boats – Lake of the Woods Marine Open on Lake Winnibigoshish, and we were fortunate enough to finish in 2nd Place, following closely behind first place with a total weight of 29.89 pounds, while bringing in an impressive 29.21 pounds ourselves.

The tournament, hosted out of Becker’s Resort and Campground, featured tight competition all weekend long, with only ounces separating the top teams.

Lake Winnie definitely made us work for it. Conditions changed throughout the event, and every decision mattered. Staying on active fish and making adjustments throughout the day ended up being key for us.

Finishing near the top against a field this competitive means a lot. Tournament fishing continues to challenge me and push me to become a better angler every time I’m on the water.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped put on a great event, including Yamaha Outboards and Warrior Boats Inc., along with all the anglers and supporters who make these tournaments possible.

Looking forward to the next one!
